1929 - 2025
Summerfield, Florida
James Leo “Jim” Brady, 96, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Summerfield, Florida. Born on June 15, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jim lived a life marked by service, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for 20 years. His naval career was a cornerstone of his life—one that instilled in him discipline, resilience, and a profound sense of duty. Following his retirement from the Navy, Jim continued to serve others through his work as the corporate sanitarian for Winn-Dixie Stores.
November 9, 1952, Jim married Theresa May DeNardo. Together they built a loving home and raised six children: Steven Mark Brady, Patricia Dailey Hanley, Michael Brady, Christopher Brady, Kathleen DePiante, and MaryAnn Hale. Though Theresa passed away on February 11, 1977, her memory remained ever-present in Jim’s heart.
Jim was blessed with a large and loving family that brought him immense pride and joy. He leaves behind fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren whose lives are part of his enduring legacy. A lifelong Catholic, Jim drew strength and guidance from his faith throughout his life. His belief in God provided him comfort during difficult times and shaped the way he treated others—with kindness, generosity, and compassion. Known for being positive and upbeat, Jim had an innate ability to bring people together. He was a peacemaker at heart and one of the best friends anyone could hope to have. In retirement, Jim found joy in fishing and traveling to visit friends across the country. One of his favorite places on earth was his cabin in Maine—a peaceful retreat where he could soak in the natural beauty that he so deeply cherished.
Jim’s life was one of quiet strength and unwavering love for those around him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched with his warmth and generosity. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
