She attended the Bryce School, and after completing her primary education she went to work for the postal service. She took a position at the Coleyvile / Christiana Post Office then later at the Albertown Post Office where she became the post mistress.
She moved to the capital city Kingston in the 1960’s, and by the end of that decade she had emigrated to the United States.
She initially lived in New Jersey where her cousins lived, and eventually settled in Queens, N.Y.
Lilleth worked for many years at Manufacturer’s Hanover Trust in a clerical capacity but she was also a very successful Avon representative. It was rumored in the family that her income from Avon far eclipsed that of her primary employment. She took great pride in her success in that endeavor and was consistently the recipient of performance awards, garnering multiple of them year after year.
A lifelong Anglican, she was very active in the Church of the Resurrection in East Elmhurst, Queens. She was a committed member of the choir and truly enjoyed singing there.
Lilleth had an active social life and particularly liked going to elegant soirees and other formal occasions. She was often the host of elaborate dinner parties in her home where she had an organ that she could easily be persuaded to play for guests. She also loved to travel internationally.
In 1982 Lilleth married Victor Jackson and moved to Florida.
They initially lived in Plantation, then moved to West Palm Beach where they settled for many years until Victor’s passing in 2012.
She subsequently moved to Lady Lake, Florida to be closer to her surviving siblings Mavis and Madge, as well as other relatives.
Having no children of her own, Lilleth was a favorite aunt who consistently sent her nieces and nephews in Jamaica birthday cards every year, each containing a prized U.S. $1 bill.
Known for her generosity, she was even more known for her exacting standards of neatness and decorum.
Even as her health began to decline in her 90’s, she remained an elegantly dressed woman.
Lilleth passed away peacefully 5 days after turning 100, on June 3, 2024.
She is already missed by family and friends.
Rest in peace.
