Adassa Ellen Duncan entered into this life on March 14, 1937, as the second born to Aaron Gobourne and Theresa Braham in St. Mary Jamaica, West Indies. She peacefully passed away at home, on September 22, 2025, surrounded by family. She was educated in the Derry Primary School, where she really loved math.
In 1963, Adassa met and married Martel Duncan. In 1973, Adassa and Martel moved their family to Williamsburg, VA. Adassa was a dedicated employee for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for over 30 years. She also worked as a room service attendant for the Williamsburg Lodge. In her spare time, Adassa was known as the Avon Lady, delivering orders all over Williamsburg. In years pass, Adassa was known for baking delicious fruit cakes, pattys, and coconut drops. Adassa was a member of Williamsburg Church of Christ for over 45 years. Her beautiful and joyful voice filled the sanctuary, leaving visitors to wonder whose melodious voice they were hearing. She thoroughly enjoyed her flower garden. Her heart lead her to give and share, and no one left her home empty handed. Adassa swam like a fish, and loved swimming in the clear waters of the Jamaican coast.
Adassa E. Duncan was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron Gobourne and Theresa Braham, brothers, Henry Gobourne and Ronald Fowles, sister Desreen Gobourne, and grandson Christopher Jones.
