

Al was born on December 13, 1915, in New Britain, CT; he lived there for 86 years before moving to Williamsburg, to be close to family. He served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Army during World War II as a military policeman in the 43rd Infantry Division. Before and after the war, Tuttle and Bailey employed him as an assembler for 35 years before his retirement.
His favorite past time and passion was golf. He was often seen sitting around the putting green at Kingsmill Resort and Golf Club, where he was always willing to give tips on putting or chipping. He even became the favorite fan of LPGA Pro Kris Tamulis.
Al’s wife of 49 years, Nellie Eselunas and son, Allan Edward Eselunas, preceded him in death. He leaves behind daughters, Gail Morris (Thomas) of Williamsburg, Karen Summerford (James) of Clifton, VA; three grandchildren, Kristine, Beth, and Perry; three great-grandchildren; as well as one niece and nephew.
A funeral Mass service will be held at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in New Britain, CT, on Friday, August 28 beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s cemetery in New Britain, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to “The First Tee”, thefirstteevapeninsula.org.
