

Her passion for a good education for all children led to her election as President of the National PTA (1985-1987), following many years of involvement on the local and national level. She served on the Fairfax County School Board (1973-1984), including 3 years as chairperson, the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and worked at the National Academy of Science. Throughout her lifetime she was a civic activist, involved with the League of Women Voters, the Democratic Party and many other organizations.
A powerful speaker and accomplished advocate, Ann Kahn was an early role model for working women.
She leaves to cherish her memory and influence: daughter, Nancy Kahn Bolash (Alan); son, David Kahn (Jeanne); granddaughter, Hannah Irwin (Brice); grandsons, Nicholas Bolash (Hilary), Nathaniel Kahn, Jesse Kahn; great grandson, Ryan Irwin; special niece and nephew, Karen Williams and Steve Sukonick; and an extended, beloved family.
Burial is private due to COVID-19 restrictions.
