Anna Zepht Stone

Anna Zepht Stone, 95, long time resident of Williamsburg, died Friday, August 18, 2017 at home surrounded by family. She was born in East Chicago, Indiana on October 28, 1921. She graduated from William and Mary and was employed by NACA as a physicist. It was there she met her husband, Ralph W. Stone. They enjoyed a 62 year marriage prior to his death in 2007.

During their marriage, Anna and Ralph were able to travel around the world several times. She took great joy in her church, sewing, crafts, reading and family. She was loved for her sense of humor, generosity, dedication, and spirituality. She was beloved by her family, friends, book club and all the people she sheltered and supported. She was independent, upbeat and vital all the way up to her brief and quick slide into death.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; son, Win; her parents Marie and Ernst Zepht; her sisters Elsie and Marie and their husbands, Billy and Larry. She is survived by her children, Pam and John Reilly of Richmond, Ree Stone of Williamsburg, and Kim and Chris Rumsey of Newport News; her grandchildren, Erika Stone of Sacramento, California, Reuben and Rebekah Burger of Portland, Oregon, Kirsten Rumsey of Washington DC and Hannah Rumsey of Chicago, Illinois; her great grandchildren, Kiran Addanki and Rachel Addanki, and her exchange student daughters, Kay Lance of Australia, Sara Blucher of Sweden, Nelleke Ongering of Holland, and her foster granddaughter, Luxi Qin of Fredericksburg, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna’s family thanks Hospice and Janie Prior for helping and guiding them through the last week of her wonderful life and enabling her and them to have a peaceful time at the end.

There will be a celebration of Anna’s life at Hickory Neck Episcopal Church on Saturday, September 9th at 10am.
