April Leah MacLeod

April was a woman of deep compassion and infectious joy. She was most at home when she had a microphone in her hand, using karaoke and song to lift her spirits and the spirits of everyone around her. Her strength was legendary; she was a breast cancer warrior who turned her personal struggle into a way to build lasting connections and support others through their own survivorship. As a local business owner, she took great pride in her work and the community she served.

To know April was to know her love for her family. She was the anchor for her husband, Ryan, and her children, Skylar, Violet, and Austin. While Ryan was known for his outrageous humor, April was the perfect match—the steady, loving presence who laughed along and completed the "puzzle" of their life together.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ryan MacLeod; her three children, Skylar Wilbur, Violet MacLeod, and Austin MacLeod; her mother, Joyce Turner; her father, Bill Johnson; and her brothers, Kurt and Ben Johnson.

Friends and family are invited to honor April’s memory on Sunday, February 8th, at 2:00 PM ET at Nelsen Funeral Home (3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188).
