Barbara was born on May 25, 1947 to Reverend Paul and Stella Tesluk of Long Island, New York. She graduated from Jersey City State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She constantly ministered to the needs of others as she met visitors to her church. After getting to know them, she then shared their friendship by introducing them to many of her other friends. She was particularly attracted to the children of visitors and did all she could to make every child feel welcomed and at home as well.
When Barbara's parents had to retire because of ill health, Barbara welcomed them into our home so that she could care for her father who was suffering from terminal renal disease as well as her mother who was afflicted with dementia.
After their passing, Barbara's interest in children led her to join the local chapter of the Child Evangelism Fellowship. She worked with the Good News Club at Magruder Elementary School for several years. When Covid 19 closed down all such school activities, she found that there were still many opportunities to counsel and pray by telephone with her many friends.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Stephen, her daughter, Leisa Munro of Newport News, VA, and four grandchildren: Paul Narkinsky of Fredericksburg, VA; Rebecca Narkinsky of Hampton, VA; Lin Narkinsky of Newport News, VA; and Gwendolyn Narkinsky of Newport News, VA.
