Burnette Fenton Jones was called to Glory on Monday, April 15, 2024. She was born on June 25, 1947 to the late Matthew V. Fenton and Clara Belle Taylor Fenton. Burnette accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pilgrim until her health began to decline. She was educated in the York County Public School system, and then worked for the school system for 35 years until she retired. In 1987, Burnette was joined in Holy Matrimony to Joseph L. Jones of Williamsburg, Virginia. They enjoyed 36 years of marriage. Burnette was an inspiration and joy to her family and friends. She loved to cook and she looked forward for the family and friends soup fest every October. What gave her joy was seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren every weekend and summer. Her love for life was apparent to all she met. She always greeted you with a warm smile. All through her illness, she endured it with dignity and courage, never complaining. She fought a good fight, but now her battle is over. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. We know that God's will has been done. Smile down on us dear one, we will always carry the memories of you close in our hearts. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Matthew V. Fenton Jr. and her sister, Octavia Braxton. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband, Joseph L. Jones; her sons, Darrel Fenton (Malissa), and Duane Fenton; her daughters, Lutresa Jackson, Deadra Fenton, Deborah Fenton, and Valerie Fenton; stepchildren, Vickie Randall, Joseph Jones Jr., Renee Gordon (Michael), and Stacy Smith; three sisters, Novella Palmer (Darnell), Viola Berkley, and Alberta Broddus; sisters-in-law, Ann Warfield (Lewis) and Gloria Jones; and a brother-in-law, Edmund Baxton Sr.; and 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. In addition, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and many caring friends also cherish her memory. Special thank you to Hospice and her nurse's Susan, Cindy, and Tony. A special thank you to her caregiver Shakir Williams and Devona Scott. The family would like to thank you for all the love and care you gave to our mother.
