

Cathie and her husband, Paul (who passed away December 17, 2024) resided in Williamsburg since 1995. She previously lived in Governor’s Land for many years and was a member of the Two Rivers Country Club. At the time of her death and for a number of years before, she had resided with Paul at Patriots Colony. She was a long-time parishioner and lector at St. Bede parish. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She is survived by daughters, Lisa Arrowood of Lincoln, Massachusetts and Beth Arrowood of Miami Shores, Florida; as well as two sons, Brett, of Oberlin, Ohio, and Bryce, of Washington DC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren – grandsons, Alex and Sean O’Neill, Henry Arrowood, and Connor Space; granddaughters, Madeleine O’Neill, and Alexa and Lily Arrowood; and great-grandson, Niko Neilski. She was preceded in death by her half-siblings, Raymond and Mickey Alukas and Christine Markunas.
Cathie was born and grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Classical High School. She attended nurses training in Worcester and became a registered nurse. She later joined the Air Force as a nurse and met her husband Paul at Travis Air Force Base in California. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in April 2025. She earned her associate’s degree in her 50’s through adult education in Connecticut.
She was a homemaker who cooked all the meals, cleaned the house, and was always there to care for her children. In addition, she supported her husband’s career with IBM, including frequent moves around the country and even overseas to Hong Kong and Tokyo.
A wake will be held at Nelsen funeral home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA on January 20, 2025 from 5 to 7 PM. A funeral mass will take place on January 21, 2025 at 12 noon at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd. Williamsburg, VA. A reception will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Zahn Lobby at St. Bede.
