Charlotte Anne Farquhar Malone passed away peacefully on August 2, 2021. Anne was born on July 18, 1932 in Seattle, Washington to Admiral Allan Shannon Farquhar and Charlotte Monnett Farquhar. She was the eldest of three daughters and the family moved multiple times as her father served his country. Anne was a graduate of Randolph Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia, majoring in Art and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She met her beloved husband, Daniel Karl Malone while visiting her parents in Jacksonville, Florida. They were married at Ayers Kaserne in Butzbach, Germany on November 8, 1957. Army and Navy united forever! The epitome of an Army wife and mother, Anne supported her husband and daughters while moving multiple times, both within the United States as well as overseas, including tours in Germany, the Soviet Union and Belgium. While Dan was away in Southeast Asia, Anne pursued graduate school, attending Florida State University and earning a Master’s degree in Library Science. She had a lengthy career as a reference librarian and held many interesting positions. She was instrumental in helping to create and develop the libraries at the American embassies in Moscow and Brussels. As a bibliophile, Anne loved and collected books throughout her life. In addition to her well-known and highly regarded picture book collection, Anne also had an extensive collection of vintage handkerchiefs, each one having a special story attached to it. She loved sharing these passions with family and friends. Anne also possessed an endless curiosity and love of research, sharing her knowledge on a variety of subjects. In their retirement years, Anne and Dan traveled extensively and enjoyed exploring other cultures as lifelong learners and adventurers. Anne was an active member of P.E.O., supporting women in education and cherished the friendships with her P.E.O. sisters. She was also a founding member of The Williamsburg Map Circle and a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Comte de Grasse Chapter. Anne was a member of Grace Episcopal in Yorktown. Anne is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Daniel Karl Malone, Col, USA, Ret. and their daughters, Shannon Malone Miller (Michael) and Leslie Malone Berger (Kevin), as well as six grandchildren, Alexander Berger (Elena), Kiernan Berger, Emilie Berger, Allan Miller and Henry Miller. She is also survived by her two sisters, Jean Farquhar Hubinger and Mary Farquhar Graham (Robert), four nieces, and two nephews. Anne was loved by many lifelong friends that she cherished over the years. Anne’s family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Williamsburg Landing and Caring Touch, LLC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in her memory to the P.E.O. Cottey College, 1000 W. Austin Blvd., Nevada, MO 64772 or The Michael J. Fox Foundation. A memorial celebration of Anne’s life is scheduled for September 25th at 2:00 pm in the Alvin P. Anderson Auditorium on the campus of Williamsburg Landing. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27
