Christopher Joseph Benz

He was born April 10, 1941 in New York City. His adoptive parents were Margaret Hearns

and Albert Benz.

Chris received a Bachelor’s degree in English and he loved history. He was a

beloved husband, father and friend.

Chris is survived by his wife, Gail Charmaine Gilbreath, and their two sons, Kit and Wil; his

two children by a previous marriage, Kristin Blanchfield and David Lannon; and his four

grandchildren, Alice and Jack Blanchfield, and Alex and Grace Lannon.

Chris brought the gift of music to everyone in his life. He was a Quaker and member of

Friends Meeting of Washington. Chris lived his life with song, friends, and family and endured

against the odds. He is in our hearts forever.

There will be a Memorial Service to be held as a Hybrid in-person/Zoom Meeting on Sunday,

August 29, 2021. Worship will begin at noon in the Meeting Room and online. A small

reception with music that he loved will be held in the Assembly Room after the service.
