He served in the Army, retiring as a Colonel in 1983. A soldier for life, he was awarded both the Meritorious Service Medal and the Department of the Army Decoration for Meritorious Civilian Service.
Dan was a diehard Cubs fan and greatly enjoyed golfing with his sons. A lifelong student and teacher, he loved working in the church and with Christian Schools. He was a member of the Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he served as a founding member of William & Mary’s Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) Chapter, and acted as an Elder and Greeter.
Dan was a friend to everyone he met, but he had a special closeness with Dr. Soueidan. The family would like to thank him for his faithful and compassionate care.

Caprio (Rebecca); grandchildren, Claire, David, Audrey, Benjamin, Fred (Annie), Eliza, and Sarah Massey (Michael); great-grandchildren, Charles Daniel Caprio and Shea, Julian, and Jordan Massey; and brother, Alex Caprio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marie; and brothers, Geoffrey and Vincent.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1677 Jamestown Rd, on Sunday at 3:00pm on August 22, 2021 with a reception to follow. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
