He leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Carol E. Peters; their four daughters, Donna (Michael) King, Marilyn Peters, Joan (James) Cole, and Karen (Philip) Barbalace; five grandchildren, Katherine Ferguson, Bradley King, Colin and Ryan Barbalace, and Janna Cole; and seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Geraldine Larsen.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ellsworth, and his grandson, Jonathan Peter Cole.
He had a successful 40-year career with the US Dept. of Agriculture.
A memorial service will be held on September 5 at 10:30 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Falls Church, VA.
