

James L. Ferro of Williamsburg, VA, died peacefully Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, after a brief illness. Jim was born in Utica, New York on February 17, 1934, the son of Lewis A. and Marguerite (Scala) Ferro.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Lee (Brooks) Ferro of Williamsburg; a daughter, Lisa, of New Boston, New Hampshire; three granddaughters, Kelly Bailey and her husband, Jared, Kira and Rebecca Ferro of Kansas City, Missouri; a brother, Michael and his wife, Barbara Ferro of Marblehead, Massachusetts; and nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his son, Michael Robert.
Jim graduated from the University of Rochester in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He was in the ROTC in college and subsequently served in the United States Navy for 23 years, 10 of those years in the Submarine Force. During his tour, he and his family were stationed for 4 years in Naples, Italy.
Jim loved flying his airplane, reading flying, adventure, historical and mystery books and traveling. He and his wife spent many years traveling Europe.
A memorial service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, on Saturday, November 8 at 1pm. Interment with full military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
