James “Jim” Kennedy passed away Tuesday, June 17th in Williamsburg, VA. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty. He was preceded in death by his father, Leldon V. (LV) Kennedy, his mother, Lorraine Kennedy and grandmother Emma "Peggy" Hansen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon Kennedy, and their two daughters, Angela Wolfe and Julie Kennedy. Affectionately known as "Pa", he was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren — Adam, Ethan, Jacob, Sophie, and Evan. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Joe Brookman, sister-in-law, Patricia Gill, and their families, as well as lifelong friends Mike, Suzanne, and Tessie, whom he considered part of his chosen extended family.
Jim was a passionate sports fan who faithfully cheered on his favorite teams, most notably the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Commanders. He loved sharing his sports knowledge with fellow fans, never missing a moment to share insights or celebrate a big win.
Beyond his love of sports, Jim was known for his warm and consistent presence in the lives of those he cared about. An avid texter and social media friend, he was always ready with a cheerful “hello" or goodnight message, a Sunday blessing, a daily "funny", or a thoughtful check-in. No emoji went unused, and no photo or post went unliked — Jim made it known that he saw you, appreciated you, and was thinking of you.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
