

He was born in Evansville, IN in 1942 and was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Cook and Mildred Cook and his son, Andrew Cook.
John graduated from Evansville College in Evansville, IN, in 1964. Upon graduation, he taught at Roxana High School, in Roxanna, IL. In 1968, he was sworn in as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigator and retired after 30 years of service with the Macon Georgia Resident Agency. Upon his retirement in 1998, he employed as an Investigator with the Bibb County District Attorney's office until 2010. John has had a distinguished and diverse law enforcement career for over 43 years. He was also a dedicated Christian and devoted husband, father and brother.
John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan (McBride) Cook; five children, Debbie Cook Pope (John) Forsyth, GA; Sharon Cook Brown (Marvin), Crossville, TN; David Cook (Leigh) Danville, GA; Wendy Culverhouse (Rodney) Williamsburg, VA; and Wesleyan Armour-Cook (Nathan), Aspen, CO. He is also survived by his only sibling, Steve Cook (Suzanne) Benson, NC; eight grandchildren, Lauren Pope, Taylor Pope, Michelle Cook Nolan, Michael Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas, Sean Eisman, Abigail Sinascalco (John), Hunter Culverhouse; as well as five great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Samaritan’s Purse Ministry, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 (www.samaritanspurse.org).
