Joseph Carroll Griffin, III.

As he was not married at the time of his passing, he is survived by his mother, Teresa Ayres of Williamsburg, Virginia, and father, Joseph Carroll Griffin Jr. of Farmville, North Carolina. Also surviving are two daughters, Celeste Redmond of Farmville, North Carolina and Josie Grace Griffin of Williamsburg, and one son, Tristan Griffin, also of Farmville.

Joey was born on November 19, 1978, the only child of Teresa Ayres and Carroll Griffin, in Greenville, North Carolina. He attended Farmville Central High School, and was very involved in the athletic program there.

Joey had a passion for athletics of any kind, especially football, baseball, basketball and the martial arts. He was blessed with a God-given talent for making friends and entertaining people wherever he went. It is said that he never met a stranger. He could brighten a room with his smile, and a room full of strangers would become his best friends. He was employed as a sales representative and roofing/siding consultant for Alpha Blue Construction at the time of his death.

The family will receive loved ones and friends at Nelsen Funeral Home at 3785 Strawberry Plains Road from 2:00 to 4:00 on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Services will be held immediately after in the chapel of Nelsen Funeral Home. An additional service and interment of ashes will also be conducted in Farmville, North Carolina.

Following services, the family will receive friends and loved ones at the home of Page and Teresa Ayres. Please ask a family member for details during the reception at the funeral home.
