Joy Every West

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, William M. West Jr. enjoying 69 years of marriage. Her three children, Barry C. West of Del Rio, TX, Gail L. Zeolla of Redford, MI, and Carol L. West of Dayton, OH; also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joy was born on May 23, 1924. She graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore, MD. On March 23, 1944 she married Lt. William West, Jr. becoming a WWII bride.

The couple enjoyed the adventures of the military life together until Bill went overseas. She wrote him every day waiting for him to return from the CBI Theater. After the war, in civilian life, Joy and Bill and their three children lived in a number of locations including Baltimore, MD, Washington D.C., Detroit, MI, Dayton, OH, and retired to Williamsburg, VA.

Joy enjoyed being a homemaker, shopping, fashions, and most of all love for animals with special love of her dogs, Duke and Esteé.

Special thanks for the exceptional care rendered by the Staff at the Riverside hospital along with the daily support of her dear friends, Debbie and Steve Lee.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 9 from 5-7 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Afterwards friends are invited to celebrate her life at her home, 112 Lands End Drive.
