As the daughter of a U.S. Navy Officer, Dean traveled much of these United States and journeyed as far as mainland China.
She met the love of her life, Joseph D. Evans in Hawaii. They married in 1947 and enjoyed 73 years of beautiful companionship. Together they lived and worked throughout the U.S. and the orient.
She loved being a Navy wife and enjoyed the challenges and rewards associated therewith. She was an excellent homemaker, exceptional cook, loved to entertain, and was always up for a good challenge at Bridge.
Dean had five ambitious children all of whom married and gave her and Joe ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Joseph D. Evans, Jr. and Darlene; David W. Evans and Karen; and a special son-in-law Bob Layne.
To the many, many friends and staff at Williamsburg Landing, she wanted to pass along her sincere love and appreciation for having made her life better.
We will all miss Dean/Mom/Mimi/Grammy and it is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye, but we can all smile knowing that she is now with the Lord and all the loved ones she missed so much.
It was Dean's wishes that there be no memorial services. Your prayers are always welcome. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nelsenwilliamsburg.com.
