Linda Darlene Godwin

Linda Darlene Godwin, 69, of Williamsburg, VA, and formerly of Dunn, NC, passed peacefully in her home on March 3, 2018. Darlene worked for Eastern State Hospital as a nurse’s aide and as a stockroom supervisor at GC Murphy Mart before retiring to take care of her two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life of 32 years, George Ray Godwin; her mother, Louise W. Casey; her brother, Thomas Warren of Williamsburg; and sister-in-law, Becky Warren of White Lake, NC. She is survived by her daughter, Yvette Asbury; her son and daughter-in-law, Gentry and Tina Godwin; two grandchildren, Justin Asbury and his wife Kristi, and Shantelle Asbury; one great-grandchild, Cole Hoffman; her brothers, Jimmy Sills and wife, Cathy of Ocoee, FL, Bobby Warren of White Lake, NC; sister-in-law, Shirley Casey and Earl Warren and wife, Yvonne, and Michael Casey and wife, Sig, all of Williamsburg, VA; sister-in-law, Louise Tew of Dunn, NC; many nieces and nephews; and neighbor, Tommy Massey, whom she thought of as her grandson. She was a loving wife and mother who never met a stranger. She loved Nascar, flowers, butterflies, and her grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, on Wednesday, March 7 from 6 - 8 PM. Her service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Nelsen Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
