

Michael Tor Hansen, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Williamsburg, Virginia on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020. Mike was surrounded by his wife and three children as he sailed into eternal glory with Jesus.
He is survived by his wife, Jutta, of 45 years, daughter, Mandy Craft (Ross); son, Michael Hansen (Maggie); and daughter, Megan Whaley (Aaron). Mike is a “Papa” of seven grandchildren, John and Sarah Craft, Katelyn and William Whaley, and Elizabeth and Jude Hansen, and expected granddaughter due in January. His brothers also survive him, Steven Hansen (Belinda) and Robert Hansen (Maria).
Mike served 24 years for the US Army in a variety of technical and managerial positions, specializing as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. He proudly served his country in two combat tours during the Vietnam War and retired honorably as a Chief Warrant Officer (CW3). He completed 24 years of civilian service at Busch Gardens theme park in Williamsburg, VA. When he retired from Busch, it was as a Ride Maintenance Supervisor and instructor. He worked quietly and diligently with deep care for people and precision in his tasks. Mike was respected by all who worked with and knew him.
He loved sailing, carpentry, camping and making memories with his family. He cherished quality time and supporting his children and grandchildren in their interests and passions. Mike was a kind, thoughtful, intelligent, and loving man, who was full of practical wisdom.
A visitation to greet the family is occurring on Saturday, October 10th from 2-4 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A private service will be held Sunday, October 11th at 3 PM. Livestream viewing of the service will be available.
