Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben, and parents, Dorothy and Lawrence Nolte. She is survived by her dearly loved family—son, Matthew Burdette, his wife Lara, and their children, Lilah and Ryan; and daughter, Kathy Burdette and her husband John Beyer.
Born in Chicago, Pat lived in Kansas and Texas, where her father was stationed in the Army, then Los Angeles. She attended Oregon State College, graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Anthropology, and enjoyed summer classes at UCLA and the University of Hawaii.
After graduation, she moved to Honolulu, where her first job was selling muumuus in the International Market Place—Waikiki. She then became the production manager for two Honolulu advertising agencies, earned a private pilot's license, and most importantly, met Ben. She later worked in Human Resources at a Connecticut printing company and then was employed by the William & Mary Alumni Association for 26 years.
Ben's career with IBM took them to live in Japan the week they married, then California, Idaho, Utah, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Connecticut, and finally retirement in Williamsburg. Travel adventures included visiting 42 countries and climbing Mt. Fuji.
Pat was a member of Pi Beta Phi, the Junior League of Salt Lake City, the National Charity League, and the Venezuelan Association of University Women. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, ESL tutor, and volunteer in a Vietnamese refugee camp in Hong Kong. She was also a brilliant gardener, a keen decorator, and a wonderful mom, grandma, and friend who will be missed by many.
