

Peter Michael Spokowski, a devoted husband, father, and pioneer in the field of packaging engineering, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, at Richmond VCU Critical Care Hospital. He was 75 years old and resided in La Crosse, Virginia.
Born in Washington, D.C., on March 2, 1950, Peter spent his early childhood in Marshfield, Massachusetts before moving to Bowie, Maryland, where he graduated from Bowie High School. He attended the University of Maryland for several years before embarking on a distinguished career in packaging—a field he not only mastered but helped shape over four decades. His expertise spanned both consumer packaged goods and pharmaceuticals, and his work as a global packaging consultant left a lasting impact on countless companies and professionals around the world.
Peter’s passion for packaging was matched only by his love for sharing knowledge. He mentored many and was known for his generosity and dedication to excellence. Outside of work, Peter found joy in the simple pleasures of life—tending to his yard, savoring good food, traveling to new places, and connecting with people from all walks of life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma Spokowski; daughter, Ashley Spokowski (Brian Gould); stepdaughter, Stephanie Hadaway (Eric Hadaway); stepsons, Ted Carlin (Sulynn Carlin) and Patrick Carlin; grandchildren, Alyssa Carlin, Chelsey Carlin, Aubrey Carlin, Calvin Carlin, Taylor Bechtel, and Casey Bechtel; sisters, Kristine Spriegel and Diane Spokowski; and his cherished pets, Fran and Maggie.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Matilda Spokowski.
A funeral service to celebrate Peter’s life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, Virginia.
Peter’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the innovations he inspired. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
