Randall Keith Cooper, 70, son of the late O.J. and Dorothy Cooper, was born on May 5, 1951 in Newport News, VA. He went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 3, 2021. He was employed at Colonial Stores and in 1971, he took a second job at Seaboard Building Supply, where he unloaded boxcars and became manager in the early 80’s. In 1988, he founded and was one of the owners of Custom Builder Supply in Williamsburg, working there as President and General Manager for 33 years. For ten years, he was on the board of directors for the Bank of Williamsburg, which is currently Atlantic First Union. He formed Friends of Lake Powell and headed the effort to fix the dam. He was a longtime member of Williamsburg Christian Church, where he served as trustee and was a faithful usher for many years. He also served for a period of time as President of the Peninsula Homebuilders Association. Randy leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife and soulmate of 36 years, Sandy; his four daughters, Kay F. Ray (Warren) of Williamsburg, Kathy Holland (Billy) of Ivor, Cricket Salyer of Williamsburg, and Cyndi Cooper of Hampton; his five beloved grandchildren, Danielle Davis, Dakota Davis (Holly), Mikaela Campbell (Iasac), Connor Salyer, and Will Maupin; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah Rose and Skylah Lily. He will also be missed by two brothers, Dennis Cooper (Patti) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Curtis Cooper of Palm Springs, CA; one loving aunt, Catherine Tyndall; as well as a host of many wonderful friends and extended family. As Randy loved to travel, he and Sandy had visited many places in and out of the United States over the years. He also loved to sit and watch the birds. He enjoyed snow skiing, boating, fishing, taking in beautiful sunsets, ducks, wild life, and one of his many cats, Andy Roo, who had been by his side for 18 ½ years. A very generous, kind-hearted, and caring man, Randy was so loved by all who knew him. He was an especially loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9, from 4:00-8:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg. A service will follow at the Williamsburg Christian Church on Thursday, June 10, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Heritage Humane Society of Williamsburg. Condolences may be shared at www.nelsenwilliamsburg.com.
