Richard Joseph Pienta

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Pienta; brother, Joseph Jr., and sister, Bernadine Romasiewicz.

Richard was a retired Systems Administrator and was last employed at Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church, Williamsburg, VA. Richard graduated from Marymount High School and attended Kings College. He was also an avid golf player, loved football, fishing, and the beach. He served in the marines for four years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Butcofski Pienta; daughters, Pamela Birtell, (Larry) and Patrice Hamel (James); and grandchildren, Bridget and Abigail Hamel.

The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, therapists, and medical staff that contributed to his medical care, rehabilitation, and finally his hospice care. You have all been a blessing and have touched our family with your heartfelt dedication.

A memorial service will be held at St. John’s the Evangelist Church, Pittston, PA, on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 9:30AM. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, PA.
