Born June 15, 1940, in Atlanta, GA, he was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Mitchell, and his sister, Ann Mitchell Higden. He will be missed by his wife, Carolyn Mitchell; niece, Elizabeth Higden Anderson (David); and nephew, Thomas Roy Mitchell.
Growing up in Atlanta, Roy was proud to work as a mechanic for his father’s two car businesses, most notably Tom Mitchell Buick. He remained in the industry until he and his wife moved to Williamsburg, VA, in 1997 to be closer to family.
Roy enjoyed collecting rocks for his large rock collection and traveling with his wife, especially to visit family.
Services will take place at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, on Monday, January 26 with an hour of visitation at 10:00 AM and a service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
