Sally Joanne Elliott

Joanne Elliott passed away peacefully at Williamsburg Hospice House on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016. She was born the daughter of Albert T. and Sarah Simpson Hassell in Philadelphia, Pa. on Dec. 11, 1936. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband David Wayne Elliott. She is survived by her sister Mary Jane Hassell of Columbia, SC, and nephews Steve Coppock of Hawthorne, Ca. and Andrew Coppock of Lexington, SC and Andrew’s wife Michelle and daughter Rabun. Joanne graduated from Stamford High School, Stamford, Ct. and attended Drexel University. After retiring as a legal secretary she and Wayne moved to Williamsburg in 1996. Joanne was a Past Matron of Pocahontas Chapter #103, Order of the Eastern Star. She faithfully attended Williamsburg United Methodist Church where she was a member of Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Sanctuary Choir. She was a dedicated member of the Williamsburg Choral Guild and was an avid quilter. At Joanne’s request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, Va. 23185, at 1 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2017. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Williamsburg United Methodist Church Organ Fund or to the Williamsburg Choral Guild, P.O. Box 1864, Williamsburg, Va. 23187.
