TOANO - (12/14/1944 - 10/14/2016) Shirley passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Leukemia. She is survived by her father Donald DeMuth of Cornville, AZ,; her husband of nearly 47 years, Doug; Two sons, Michael (Nicole) of Naperville, IL and Matthew (Sara) of Alto MI. She was born in Yuma, AZ, lived in Grand Rapids, MI and retired to the Williamsburg, VA area. She taught for 33 years at Kentwood High School. Always enthusiastic about history, she taught classes in the Emeritus College program at Aquinas College In Grand Rapids and in the Christopher Wren program at the College of William and Mary. She volunteered at both Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Settlement. She was a positive influence on everyone she met, and will be missed by all. A memorial service will take place Saturday October 22, 1:00 PM St.Peter's Episcopal Church 8400 St. Peters Lane New Kent, VA 23124. In lieu of flowers it is suggested that contributions be made in her name to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society , your local PBS station, St.Peter's church, or a charity of your choice .
