It is with great sadness that Pearl and I (belatedly) learned of the death of our good friend and colleague Steve Keyser. Our short stay in Williamsburg (87/93) was greatly enhanced by the friendship of Steve and Pat. They always made us welcome and we particularly enjoyed visiting them in their beautiful home situated on the York River. Pride of workmanship was a great strength of Steve and this talent was abundantly obvious throughout their house and property.
Steve was totally committed to his family, caring and loving his mother particularly throughout her final years, proud and loving to his son and daughters as they grew their own families. Most of all was his love and affection for his wife  Pat which created such a wonderful environment that it was a delight to be in their company.

I am saddened to hear about Steve's passing. I have know the family for as long as I can remember and Steve was always quite the personality. You dare not speak the words Ford or Chrysler around him or he would quickly put you in your place. I didn't mind as I am a Chevrolet man and so is his son Steve Jr (my life long friend and godparent to my oldest son). My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. May your memories give you peace and comfort.

First of all, I am  so sorry for your loss.  I worked with Steve for years in Williamsburg at BASF before I was transferred to Dalton, GA with the company.  Steve would pop in every now and then when he was doing his consultant work and it was always a treat to see him.  He was so funny and I really enjoyed  seeing him.  He would call every few years just to check  in and it was always special to hear from him.  He was a wonderful person and will be missed.

Dear beautiful family.......Steve and Pat, Stevie, Cheryl and Lori were my neighbors when they moved to Durham, NC  in the '70's.  We became quick friends and my daughters loved playing with their children.  Our friendship has remained very close ever since.  Yes, Steve loved calling being "the King" of whatever and you would have to know him to really appreciate this!  

There is no greater love than God's love, so may you all feel the peace and comfort it gives and in knowing that Steve is also at peace.

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Keyser, but having personally experienced the awful sting of death and the extreme grief that comes with losing a loved one, I wanted to send my sincere condolences. May your cherished memories of your loving husband, father, and grandfather comfort you as you look forward to the fulfillment of John 5:28,29 when you may be reunited with him again.

One summer we spent a couple of days with Steve and Pat in a cottage on Nags Head Beach .  Steve in the true “SteveWay” went on the Oceanside deck , raised his hands to the sky and declared himself “King of the Beach”.  Every since we have referred to Steve  as , King Keyser .  Being friends with Steve was always an adventure .

Stephen was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Paul Keyser, his brothers, Paul Keyser and Samuel Keyser, and his first-born granddaughter, Lauren Ashley Fontan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia, and son, Stephen Ashley Keyser Jr.  Also, his daughters, Cheryl Keyser (Todd Nelson), and Lori Hounshell (Tom Hounshell); and his five grandchildren: Brandon Hounshell, Peter Nelson, Ian Nelson, Natalie Nelson, and Olivia Nelson.
