

Walter J. Klubowicz, of Williamsburg, passed away on November 24, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born in New Bedford, MA and has been a Williamsburg resident for 60 years. Walter received a Master’s degree in Textile Engineering from NC State in 1955 and was a member of Phi Psi fraternity. He began working for New Bedford Textile in 1952; later retiring as a Textile engineer from BASF Corporation. With retirement he enjoyed being a member of the American Legion and tending to his coin collection.
Walter served with the Army Air Core from 1939 to 1946, during WWII. He was awarded the American Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and American Theater Ribbon. He was an Aerial Gunnery Sergeant and a member of Strategic Services Unit (OSS).
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Klubowicz; parents, Emil and Valerie Klubowicz; sister, Edna Demanche; brothers, Mike Stanley and Charles Klubowicz. He is survived by his son, Daniel W. Klubowicz (Lori K.) of Williamsburg, VA; daughter, Jane I. Eckrote (Dale T.) of Milton, DE; grandchildren, Ian and Kayleigh Eckrote; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
