
Walter Franklin Thacker, 71, passed away in Williamsburg, Virginia, on Monday, January 27th. He is preceded in death by his parents, A.W. and Ruenette Thacker; wife, Gloria Thacker; and daughter, Wendy Thacker.
Born in Piedmont, Alabama he was raised in Williamsburg, Virginia where he resided until retirement. Walter was a well-known glassblower who dedicated his life to mastering his craft, he was a small business owner who operated his glass business of 44 years at The Williamsburg Pottery.
Known for being a quick-witted jokester and prankster, he was also a storyteller who could have you in stitches minutes after meeting him. Walter loved road trips, antique shopping, traveling through the mountains and listening to Elvis Presley and when young enjoyed drag racing.
Survivors include daughters, Shelley Millirons, (David), Gloria Hiduk, Laura Espiet (Rodrigo Santibanez) and Nora Espiet Alldredge (Shane); grandchildren, Caroline Brandt, Matthew Clark, McKinley Millirons, Corey Sellers, Elizabeth Millirons, Khannmy Sellers and Sofia Santibanez; and great grandchild, Abel Duke Dotson.
Walter will be remembered for his laughter, creative spirit, personal touch he gave to his art and TCB.
