

William M. Grimstead, 90, of Williamsburg, passed away on December 8, 2013, after several years of declining health. He was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee and usher for a number of years.
He retired from the Corps of Engineers after 22 years of service, working in quality control, traveling to military installations such as Langley AFB, Fort Monroe, Fort Lee and Radford Ammunition Plant where he taught construction management classes. He also traveled as far as Israel where he taught classes for the Ministry of Defense. After retirement, he continued to do consulting work for contractors for a number of years, until he was well into his 80’s. Mr. Grimstead was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy.
He was predeceased by his mother and father of Mathews, and his sister, Hazel Majette of Lakeland, Florida. Survivors include his beloved and dedicated wife of 70 years, Kathryn, and two children, Rita Kay Scott (and son-in-law, Richard) of Weems, Virginia, and Stephen A. Grimstead (and daughter-in-law, Holly) of Wichita Falls, Texas, as well as three grandchildren, Jessica, Tori and Trace, and one great-grandson, Beckham.
Funeral services will be held at Williamsburg United Methodist Church on December 16 at 2 PM and will be officiated by Rev. Kaye Barre and Rev. Helen Casey Rutland. Interment will be at Peninsula Memorial Park Mausoleum on December 17 at 11 AM. Nelsen Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
