I will alway's remember last year when Roberta Roden and I stopped and visited him, with old pictures in my Mom's collection  (Margert Dietz Larimer) and he could tell us some great history from these pics, brought smiles to his face when he talked about family..

Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss.  May your families be surrounded by many wonderful memories that comfort and bring you peace during this difficult time.

I'm sorry Yolanda and I could not be there Tuesday but our thoughts and prayers were with you and your family. What a wonderful life your Dad enjoyed surrounded by those who loved him. His family and faith were obviously priorities in his life. I always enjoyed listening to him talk about local history and Yolanda remembers the sleigh ride several years ago. What a pleasure it was to know your father! I remember liking him the moment we were first introduced. I loved to listen to the accounts of his early farming years.

The thing I admire most about Charles is that he was a man that knew what to do and he did it.

Dear Gene, Ron, and Ruth Ann,
I am sorry to hear of your loss.  I had wanted to visit with him one more time, and was able to speak with him on the phone a couple of years ago.  I'll never forget how much your dad helped us with our farming and patiently worked with us with the different problems we encountered.  I remember when he would visit our place in his red, short box first generation Ford Ranger.  He liked that little truck and   I also enjoy similar Rangers.  I'll never forget the time I was at your home and Charles let Ron and I shoot the 16 gauge single shot shotgun with the extra long barrel. I remember it had a very significant kick.
I know that my mother and dad appreciated all that Charles did for us and now it is a comfort to know that they are together visiting about the "old days on the farm."
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I didn't know charles hardly at all but he was a friend of my fathers [Phil Millis] and a neighbor when i was growing up on stockbridge road, as it was called then. i hunted pheasants some on his farm when i was a teenager. he's another of a wonderfull generation of farmers, community leaders and a instiller of honest values in those of us who were fortunate enought to know them as we were growing up.  i feel fortunate to have know men like charles and many of the other webberville farmers when i was a young man growing up.  my condolences to all the family.

Having spent many summers during my youth at the farm with Uncle Chuck, I have many memories of a great man and mentor.  Happy to have had the opportunity to visit him in December.

I didn't know Charles well but I know he gave Grandma many years of friendship, fun and love. In her last days she was so worried about him and his move to Haslett. The years of friendship they shared was truly a blessing to them both. God has now rejoined good friends. May God provide you and your family with the comfort only He can provide in this difficult time

Your dad is the last of the adult generation in our neighborhood that we all knew growing up. He was one of the leaders in our community that our parents looked up to. My brother Dave and I had the good fortune to spend an afternoon with your dad and we were mesmorized by his memories of past events and people we all knew. I can only eish that all of us will live as long an productive life as your father!

We were so sorry to hear of your loss.  The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.

Our condolences to Charles' families.  We will miss eating lunch and seeing him at McDonalds in Williamston in recent years. Dear Gene, Ron, and Ruth Ann,

I wish I could be there with you all at this time of sorrow and also rejoicing that your Dad is in the presence of Jesus.  "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."  Your father was one of my favorite people in the whole world.  I have known him since I was 8 years old, and now I'm 70!  He was like a father to me so many times.  I remember running smack dab into the wall in the Williamston High School gym and hit my right elbow, and he came and got me and took me to his home.  My mother had been very sick and was not at home and I was staying at your home during that time.  I ended up with a "charlie horse", so your Dad called it.  I always felt so loved and cared for by your Dad.  

I could sit for hours and listen to his stories "along Dietz road".  He took me one day in his car driving all those country roads telling me story after story about this and that neighbor and farmer.  He was somebody you could always count on.  He was always there for people in need.  He loved my own Daddy like a brother.  I called him to ask him if he would go to the burial for my Daddy in Jan. of 2003 near Bennington, Michigan, because I wouldn't be able to go to the funeral at all.  I was recovering from open heart surgery that year and couldn't make the trip from Colorado.  He said, "sure Becky, I'll be there."  Now he is probably talking about the spring plowing up there in Heaven with my Daddy - who knows!  I will miss you Mr. Dietz.  I talked to him on the phone just a couple weeks before he went to live in Haslett and leave his farm place.  We reminisced about the old Dietz farm, the creek, the barn, the 'ol black walnut tree by the kitchen window.  And he told me he was praying that God would take him to Heaven sooner than later.  I said I would pray for that for him too.  I thanked him for being so kind and good to me throughout my life and told him I loved him.  He said, "I love you too, Becky.  Bye Bye."  

Now we are saying "Bye,bye" to Mr. Dietz, but not for long, I hope.  Maranatha Lord Jesus.
