

Born April 14, 1917, the son of Robert and Grace Elizabeth (Brenner) Dietz. Charles passed away on February 7, 2013, at age 95. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Beth (Risch) Dietz in 1984, second wife Merle (Piper) Dietz in 2002; sisters, Bernice Foote and Margaret Larson; brother, Casper Dietz; lifelong friend, Dorothy Pierce. He is survived by his sons, Charles Jr. “Gene” (Norma) and Ronald (Sharon) Dietz, daughter Ruth Ann (David) Martin; four grandchildren, Tim (Stephanie) Dietz, Kim (Dan) Raysby, Karl Martin, Kristina (Ben) Hoblet, and nine great grandchildren. Charles was a lifelong resident of Leroy Township where the homestead Dietz Farm was founded in 1846. He purchased the farm in 1942 and lived there for 71 productive years. For 22 years he served on the boards of Williamston and Lee Schools. Charles was on the board of trustees at his church and the FHA board, and was among the founders of the Senior Group in Williamston. He had a passion for woodworking and American history. Charles loved to talk about farming and the ‘old days’ in the community, his school days at Podunk, and growing up along Dietz Road. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 12th at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church of Okemos, 4684 Marsh Rd., Okemos, MI 48864, with Pastor Joe Dabrowski officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Williamston. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 at Alchin Farm Cemetery, Webberville, MI.
