

Born on New Year’s Eve, December 31st, 1935, to Max H. Shaffer and Lila M. (Lane) Shaffer; he is the widower of Margaret (Peggy) Shaffer (Warfle), Betty Shaffer, and Lisa Johnson. He was a devoted father and a good, strong man.
Surviving are his daughters Stephanie Shaffer Vaas, Lisa Briggs Ostrander, LeAnne Briggs Potter, and Laurie Lane Brodberg.
Preceded in death by his daughter Tamara Jo Cristan; sisters Dixie Shaffer Logan and Tonia Shaffer Walker.
Dallas was a life-long resident of Williamstown Township and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, and considered it the reason he was able to have a great life. A dedicated heavy equipment operator, he also loved flowers, beauty, and projects of all kinds. He had an amazing ability to understand machinery, and leaves a legacy of fellowship and family. He loved beautiful music, building remote-control airplanes and racing fast machines, and playing cards with friends and family. He was a Yamaha fan. He devoted his last years to the caring of one special dog named Pugsy.
Family and friends will be received at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Middle St., Williamston, MI, on Thursday, May 14th, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service, which will be Friday, May 15th at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home.
“Big D” will be greatly missed.
