Daniel Arthur Bunker was born July 8, 1929 in Lansing, MI to the late Oscar and Viola (Hoover) Bunker, and passed away November 8, 2017 in Lansing, MI at the age of 88. Dan graduated from Mason H.S. in 1947 and later went to work at General Motors, where he worked for 39 years before retiring in 1993. Dan loved horses and spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling to horse shows with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He cherished the many close and loving friendships that were made along the way. He was the past President of Central Michigan Horseman’s Association and a former 4-H Leader. He was also a bit of a daredevil, and had a passion for racing motorcycles. He could be found racing Jack Pine (or his favorite flat track) or somewhere up north on a frozen lake. In his later years, he could be found showing off the scars he earned in his younger years. Daniel and his wife Betty were loyal members of Wheatfield United Methodist Church of Williamston.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Viola and Oscar Bunker, stepmother Clorah, and sisters Estina, Lillian, Florance, and stepbrother Elmer. Left to lovingly cherish memories are his wife of 68 years Betty, son Mark (Lori) Bunker, daughter Jody (Larry) Kranz, grandchildren Kelly (Bill) Hoffmeyer, Breanna (Dillon) Bond, Alissa Bunker, great grandchildren Makenzie, Monica, and Xavier Hoffmeyer, Grayson Bond, brothers Ruhl Bunker, Ivan Bunker, sister Darla Tody, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is Tuesday November 14, 2017 at 1pm at Gorsline Runciman Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle St. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow the service at East Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery, Okemos, MI. Pastor Steve Ezop will be officiating.
