Ted was the 3rd of 8 children born to James E. and Rhoda (Sanders) O'Bryant in Shepherd, MI on August 30, 1923. He graduated from Perry High School in 1943 and started to work for the Hal B. Church Farms in Haslett, becoming farm manager in 1949. He worked closely for and with Mr. Church until his retirement in 1984.
Ted married Alice Marie Whitman and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage before her death in 2012. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Jerry; brothers, Ken, Jim, Bill and John; sisters, Iva Mae Theron and Uvah Wright. He is survived by his children, Judy (Jay) Glandon, Dr. Michael (Dolores) O'Bryant, and Nancy Smith; daughter-in-law, Donna O'Bryant; brother, Danny O'Bryant; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Ted joined the Okemos Masonic Lodge in 1977 and was very active. He especially enjoyed making the biscuits for the Chicken Dinners and pouring coffee at the Williamston Masonic Pancake Breakfasts. He was also involved with the 4-H Fair in Mason, a member of the Perry Alumni Association and a member of the Eastern Stars. He also enjoyed attending music jamborees in Shaftsburg. He was a kind, patient and gentle man who always put others first.
A visitation for Ted will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 East Middle Street, Williamston, MI 48895. A funeral service will occur Monday, May 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Following the service, Ted will be laid to rest in Summit Cemetery, Beeman Rd, Williamston, MI 48895. Following the burial, the family invites you to join them for a luncheon at The Masonic Lodge, 2175 Hamilton Rd., Okemos, MI 48864.
Serving as pallbearers are Jason Smith, Jeff Carpenter, Randy Davis, Troy O'Bryant, Neal O'Bryant, Scott Glandon, Kevin Glandon, Ashley O'Bryant and Tracy Oryszczak.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ted's memory may be made to Toys for Tots.
