

Ethel Sherman was born on November 19, 1937 in Gratiot County, Michigan, to RG and Helen (Cowdrey) Sherman, She went to Ithaca High School and graduated with the class of 1957 before pursuing her passion for nursing at the University of Michigan, where she graduated in 1960. Ethel worked as a registered nurse at various local doctor offices, Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, and later worked for the State Of Michigan from where she retired.
On July 8, 1961, Ethel married Roland C. Andersen in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They met at the University of Michigan, both graduates, and loved watching and supporting their alma mater. They were married for 63 years, raised two children, and watched their grandson grow into adulthood, marry and have three precious great-grandchildren. Ethel is survived by her husband, Roland Andersen; her children, Erik (Phillip) Andersen and Christina Burkitt; her grandson, Joshua (Amanda) Burkitt; and her great-grandchildren, Emma, Jack, and Theo Burkitt. She also leaves behind Aunt Shirley Smith, one sister-in-law Norma Sherman, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ethel is preceded in death by her siblings, Charlene Bateman, Francis, Roscoe, Fredrick, and Richard; her parents, RG and Helen (Cowdrey) Sherman; and her grandparents, Roscoe and Lottie Cowdrey and Wesley and Rebecca Sherman.
A celebration of Ethel's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
Ethel’s wit, kindness, compassion, and dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
