Jerry Wagner, age 72, died peacefully at home with his wife at his side on December 20, 2010 of complications from Parkinson’s. He was born in Fowlerville, MI, February 27, 1938 to Floyd and Dorris (Hill) Wagner. Jerry attended Dillingham School, a one-room neighborhood school, and graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1956 where he was active in the Future Farmers of America (F.F.A.), serving as vice president in his senior year, and the Jr. Dairy Herders Improvement Association (D.H.I.A.). He was a member of the Locke Township Planning Commission for 30 years. On August 25, 1973, Jerry married Joyce Fredrick in Owosso. He was a life-long farmer in Bell Oak and at one time his grandfather, father, and Jerry farmed together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, two cousins, and a great-nephew. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sister, Anna (Pat) Delaney of Portland, MI; sisters-in-law, Betty (Jack deceased) Groce of Santa Rosa, CA, JoAnn (Dan) Messmer of Owosso, Gloria (Mick) Danek of Laingsburg, Diane Reed of Owosso; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and very special friend, Mike Meagher of Bell Oak.
A tribute to Jerry’s life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205. E. Middle Street, Williamston, MI 48895 with Mr. Bill Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 2-8 PM. Interment will take place 11AM Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in Alchin Farms Cemetery, Webberville.
