Born April 22, 1932 in Ingham County, Joan lived a full life. She met Russell Harry, her husband of more than 60 years, at a poker game where she promptly lost his money but won his heart forever. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and taking adventures – attending high school on a military base in Germany and even visiting Alaska five different times with Russell.
Above all, Joan was proud of her children and loved sharing time with them, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Her love didn’t run out with her family, though, as she loved and cared for the musician friends of her son, extended family members, and anyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Alice (True) Murphy; her brother, Richard Barlow; and her dear friend, Susan Reed.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband; her children, Steven Frarey and Vickie Frarey; her grandchildren, Steve (Tamra) Dillingham, Robert (Zena) Frarey, and Scott (Wendy) Frarey; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The memorial service for Joan will be held Saturday, August 10th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2418 Aurelius Road, Holt, at 11am. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s honor to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
