Loving Husband, Father, Papa and Brother – LeRoy “Whitey” Glenn Horstman – age 89, passed away November 5, 2018, on his birthday, after a brief battle with multiple health issues. Roy is survived by his daughter Angela Joy Horstman Hunt (Jim) of Williamston and his son Eric LeRoy Horstman (Angela) of Haslett, his sister Violet Horstman Lentz of Williamston, his sisters-in-law Karen Christianson Shannon (George) of Severna Park, Maryland and Sharon K. Seeley (Jim) of Parker, Colorado, along with his five grandchildren - Haleigh Hunt of Williamston and Alexandra, Tiana, Jaegar and Keegan Horstman of Haslett.
Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Frances Christianson Horstman, father and mother Jess and Bessie Horstman, brothers Floyd and Harold and sisters Alta and Gladys.
Roy was born in 1929 in the home built by his Father and Grandpa, Jess and Henry Horstman, at 524 High Street in Williamston. He graduated from Williamston Community School – Class of 1947. Roy and Mary were married January 13, 1951 and he left for service in the US Army three days after they wed. He was deployed to Korea where he served as an MP in the Korean War until he returned in 1953. Upon his return, he began his employment at Oldsmobile where he worked for over forty years and retired as a Final Assembly Supervisor. Subsequent to that, he held various positions working for Dean Transportation, ET Mackenzie Company, and ferrying vehicles for Courtesy Ford, Williams VW, and Capital City International Truck in the Lansing area.
He was an active member in the American Legion Post 296, the VFW of Williamston, the Webberville Lions, and volunteered for MSU Spartan football, greeting those who came to the game as he took tickets.
Roy had a huge heart when it came to helping his family, friends, neighbors and his community. He will be greatly missed by all.
Please join us in celebrating his life at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 East Middle Street, Williamston, MI, on Friday from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM and Saturday,
10:00-11:00 AM, with service beginning at 11:00 AM. A military graveside service will be held at Summit Cemetery on Beeman Rd, Williamston, immediately following.
