Haslett, formerly of St. Clair Shores
Michael F. Wissel, 62, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Petoskey, Michigan. He was born February 5, 1954 in Detroit to Richard and Sheila (Magee) Wissel. He graduated from Howard University after obtaining a degree as a registered pharmacist. Michael worked for the State of Michigan for 20 years, eventually retiring as a pharmacy services manager. One of his proudest accomplishments was creating the MAPS program for monitoring prescriptions in the state of Michigan. He was recently working as Vice President of Operations for BizTek. Outside of work, Michael loved to be outdoors, and he considered the UP to be God’s country. Anywhere he could see the water, Michael felt at home. He also enjoyed working with his hands: fixing old radios, gardening, cooking, and fishing to name a few hobbies. Above all, Michael was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jan Wissel; his children, Brad (Shannon) Wissel and Melanie (Pablo) Lorenzo; his grandchildren, Amber and Hailey; his brother, Brian (Phyllis) Wissel; and his sister, Annemarie (Jim) Kautz. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. Mary Catholic Church, 157 High St., Williamston. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3 from 6pm to 8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Middle St., Williamston, with a prayer service to be held at 8pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. In memory of Michael, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank, PO Box 16224, Lansing, MI 48901.
