Sandra Lee Distel

Age 83, of Williamston, died February 20, 2026, following a brief illness. She was born September 26, 1942, in Tyler, TX to W. Heartsill and Nerma Lee (Hinsley) Wilson. Sandie graduated from Grosse Pointe High School and attended Cleary College. She was married to Francis X. Distel on June 17, 1982.

Sandie was a Real Estate Agent, Insurance Agent, and owned a catering business. She served as a member of the Howell City Council and Livingston County Board of Commissioners. She worked at an Assistant Buyer of Hudson's, taught Distributive Education at Howell High School, and was a driving force in building Cleary Livingston Campus. Sandie was an active member of the church, regularly serving as a Eucharistic Minister.

Nothing was more important in Sandie's life than her family. Surviving are her daughters, Linda (Don) Dykstra, Heather (Steve) Schwarz; grandchildren, Benjamin LaRoche, Daniel (Cat) LaRoche, Maximilian Schwarz, and Claire Schwarz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis X. Distel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, March 2, 2026 at St. Martha Parish, Okemos. The Rite of Committal will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Williamston Chapel on Sunday from 1:00-5:00 pm.
