

home on Saturday, December 5, 2020. William was born June 17, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to
William and Thelma (Hennessy) Hare Sr.
William is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannette (Rinke) Hare; sister, Maria Hare,
Cameron Park, California; and stepdaughter, Jamie (VanderWal) Koppelmann, Chicago, Illinois.
William attended Michigan State University where he received his Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine, and two more PhD's in Pathology and Toxicology, and Oakland University, for his
Masters in Cell Biology.
He was a Clinical veterinarian for 20 years, at Hare Veterinary Clinic, in Romeo, Michigan.
William was also Senior Veterinary Medical Officer for 10 years, at USDA Beltsville Agricultural
Research Center, Beltsville, Maryland.
Throughout the years, William belong to several different organizations. He was a member of
the AVMA, American Association of Toxicologists, American Board of Toxicology; Kiwanis Club
and Lions Club both in Romeo, Michigan.
William loved spending time with his family, his dogs, cultivating his vineyard, reading and
being surrounded by books!
He was a dairy farmer, a school board president for the Romeo school district. William
coached youth baseball and football at various times in both Romeo and Williamston.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of nearly 28 years, Geri Hare of Williamston, Michigan;
son, Bill (Jen) Hare, Romeo, Michigan; stepson, Jake VanderWal, Chicago, Illinois; daughters,
Debbie (Steve) Jones, Ludington, Michigan; Wendy (Chris) Raymond, Wilmette, Illinois; Becky
(Tim) Cline, Williamston, Michigan; sisters, Janice (Jack) Makar of Cameron Park, California;
Nancy (Alan) Hunter, Folsom, California; adopted sister Marilyn; brother George (Linda) Hare; 13 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild on the way.
William will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
