Edna Coltrain Edwards

Mrs. Edna Coltrain Edwards, 81, of Richmond, VA, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William H. ("Bill") Edwards, Jr., her parents Robert Shaw Coltrain and Myrtie Beacham Coltrain, and brother Charlie Gray Coltrain, all of Williamston.

Edna and Bill were both raised in Williamston and spent their married years raising their family in Elizabeth City, Raleigh, Durham, Wilson and Statesville, NC while Bill was employed in the banking industry. Their empty nest years were spent in Richmond and Virginia Beach, VA. Edna was employed many years as an executive secretary at Duke University, Wilson Technical Institute and Southern States Cooperative.

She was most proud of their 2 daughters and is survived by Jennifer Branin (Tim) of Richmond, VA and Cathy Craver (Steve) of Franklin, TN; 5 grandchildren Cameron Craver Pratt, Gage Edwards Craver, Pat Branin, Carter Branin and Timothy Branin, II; and 3 great¬grandchildren: Aiden Pratt, Jackson Pratt and Catherine Pratt; sister Leona Lilley (Melton Guy) and brother James Coltrain.

Family will receive friends Monday, October 22, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Biggs Funeral Home, 302 W. Main Street, Williamston, NC. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 o'clock noon at Biggs Funeral Home with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
