
Steve was born November 26, 1920 to James Thomas and Rilla Stevenson, of Martin County. A World War II veteran, he proudly served in the United States Army, from 1941-1945. Thereafter, Steve farmed for many years, followed by several years as a Guard for Long Manufacturing Co., in Tarboro, where he was, also, a longtime member of the Tarboro Church of Christ. His family was a very important part of his life and a great source of pride to him.
Steve is survived by his adoring wife of 70 years, Dora Page Stevenson; his children, Vera Bradford, Monty Stevenson and his wife Rebecca, Ann Rogister and her husband Robert, Connie Jeffreys, and Steve E. Stevenson, Jr. and his wife Angie. He has10 grandchildren; Andrea Waters Smith, Dimpsy Waters, Stephanie Nobles and her husband Rex, John Jeffreys, Robbie Rogister and his wife Felecia, Mike Rogister, Andy Jeffreys, Paige House and her husband Matthew, Savanna Stevenson, and Cody Stevenson. He has 13 great-grandchildren; Brandon Waters, Chelsey Smith, Morgan Smith, Halle Nobles, Lea Nobles, Jackson Rogister, Alexis Waters, Emma Connor, Trent Connor, Nicole Jeffreys, Hudson Nobles, Katelyn Jeffreys, and Waylon House. He was preceded in death by his son Anthony Stevenson, his son in law Alton Jeffreys, his son in law Denny Bradford.
Funeral services will be held at Biggs Funeral Home, in Williamston, NC, on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Visitation will begin at 1 pm, followed by the funeral service at 2pm. The Graveside service will be held at Martin Memorial Gardens. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Robert and Ann Rogister.
