Virginia Manning

Virginia Chesson Manning, 85, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at Martin General Hospital. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev Ray Tavenner officiating; burial will follow at Tice Cemetery.

Mrs Manning was born in Martin County on February 6, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Fred L Chesson Sr and Irma Lamm Chesson. She retired from the Martin County Clerk of Court as an Assistant Clerk where she worked for many years. Mrs Manning was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

On September 3, 1948 she married David Brown “Bobby” Mamning who preceded her in death on December 15, 2003. A brother Fred Chesson Jr also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter Allison M Phifer of Williamston, son David Manning and wife Kelly of Conyers, Georgia,, sister Dorothy C Baggett of Williamston, sister-in-law Pat Chesson of Williamston, grandchildren Kasey Cherry,Sean Phifer, Evan Phifer, Davey Manning and Audrey Manning.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3:00 PM at the church and other times at her residence 1190 Johnson Drive.
