Gilda LaMantia Hansen passed away peacefully on February 2, 2018, one day after her 96th birthday. Gilda was born in 1922, in Buffalo, after her parents immigrated from Italy and Germany. She attended University of Buffalo, and graduated in Sociology. Gilda had 5 beloved children, taking her in many directions at once. Gilda managed to develop each child’s strength and creativity. In 1962, Gilda began exploring the world, along with her children. Her excitement for learning and experiencing different histories and cultures was boundless.
Gilda was a very giving, caring, loving person who spent several years volunteering for the Children’s Hospital. She was always smiling, a true gentlewoman, a great friend, sister, aunt, cousin, and wonderful person. Her spirit of loving kindness and sunny disposition will be missed by all. She is survived by 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:15 am from Christ the King Church.
