Hannah Grace Boyer, 4 years old, was born on Friday September 6, 2013, in Buffalo, NY. The daughter of Arlen and Chandra Boyer, she was an answered prayer and filled her family with immense joy. Hannah passed into heaven peacefully in the arms of her parents on Friday August 31, 2018 at 6:32 pm. She fought a long and courageous battle against Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Hannah passed on the eve of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and has certainly inspired many to consider the devastation of such a terrifying disease. Her legacy will be tied to cancer for many reasons, and we hope that her life forever brings awareness and attention to Pediatric Cancer. However, the reasons Hannah will be remembered by so many are far deeper. She was taught to love God and love people; she was excellent at it. She was insightful, witty and forgiving. She loved to play doctor, barbies, play-doh, mermaids and legos. She was the mother of many dolls and stuffed animals. Hannah lived with such intense imagination. In her beautiful world she married her husband, Donny, had a beautiful polar bear baby named, Penelope, traveled the world, could transform into a mermaid and became a surgeon. She absolutely loved to cook, serve, and run her own shop where she provided all the services and was the kindest cashier. She had the tendency to go on adventures so fascinating, that anyone near her would find themselves following along whether invited or not.
We had about as much time with Hannah as many people spend in college and she was a phenomenal teacher with a unique perspective. No one could live and love more passionately than she could.
Hannah is survived by her parents Chandra and Arlen Boyer; brother Asher Boyer; grandparents Joan Boyer, Kevin Boyer, and Kathleen and Richard Whitefield; great grandmother Clarene Pickard; aunts and uncles Nadia and Brandon Boyer, Richard Whitefield, Andrea and Adam Neudecker; and an extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, a multitude of Church family, friends and a community who loved her very much.
If you would like to make a donation in Hannah’s honor, please consider donating to St. Jude or an institution dedicated to pediatric cancer.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life from 1:30-3:30 p.m., Monday, September 3 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
