On January 23rd, 2025, John R. Atkinson, Sr. passed away after a struggle with pneumonia. John was born in Syracuse May 29, 1945, where he spent most of his life; recently moving to Buffalo, NY. He is survived by his wife Suzanne (Frenz) of almost 56 years. John’s children and their families are John, Jr. of VT Hannah, Nathalie and Lynden. Robert of Buffalo NY Maria, Benjamin and Juliana. His four grandchildren were very special in his life. He is also survived by his siblings Donna Gilbert of North Syracuse and Gene of North Carolina.
John is a Vietnam veteran of the Air Force and worked at Niagara Mohawk for 30 years, retiring as a lineman. He spent his spare time renovating homes and building furniture. Recently he worked in Buffalo at Home Depot in the tool rental department.
